If you're looking for a custom computer desk, you basically have two options. You can either buy it or build it yourself. Which choice you make will depend on several factors.
The first decision you'll have to make is whether or not you have the ability to build a computer desk yourself. There are lots of plans available in books, magazines and online which can be followed exactly or modified to suit your needs. But if you don't have the skills to build a desk, or you don't have the tools you would need, you are probably better off buying one.
Contemporary Wood Desk
Another decision that will affect whether to build or buy is what kind of materials you want to use. If you're looking at a wood desk, you can build your own fairly easily. But if you're thinking of a more contemporary design, say brushed metal frame with a glass desktop, it's going to be harder to build.
In fact, you might end up buying most of the components to put it together anyway, so you might as well buy a custom desk in the first place.
If you're buying a custom computer desk, there are a couple of options. There are several companies that make modular desk systems that can be customized with different components and parts to meet your needs. While you can customize these desks within the framework of what the company offers, they are not 100% customizable since you have to pick from the various components they offer.
The other option is to order a custom desk built to your exact specifications. This is going to be the most expensive route since it's going to require a lot of labor to build, but if you want to have a specific design or a particular material, this is the best route to take.
